Charts, Ears, and What to Prep Before Rehearsal
What players should arrive *already* knowing — and what the rehearsal itself is for.

Arrive knowing
- The key, tempo, and arrangement map.
- The melody — sung, not hummed.
- Their own part cold, without the recording.
Use rehearsal for
- Feel, dynamics, and transitions.
- Hand-offs and cues.
- The two or three moments on each song that only become clear when the room is playing together.
The habit that changes everything
Send charts early and set a tempo-practice expectation. Rehearsals stop being note-learning sessions and start being ensemble sessions. That’s the entire goal.
